What is Conservation?
Conservation is similar to preservation. But while both
relate to the protection of nature, they signify in different ways.
Conservation seeks the sustainable use of nature by human activities such as
hunting, logging or mining while preservation means protecting nature from
human use.
What is Conservation Biology?
§ Mark Windows : Birds tend to hit the windows because they
can not see them as an obstruction and leads to death after accidentally
crashes on the windows. It can be reduced by marking the windows.
§ Keep the Pets Indoor : Cats and other house pets hunt animals,
especially birds. It can be avoided by keeping the pets inside, if possible.
§ Use Natural Pest Control: Some food sources of birds are
tampered by using chemical pest control. These chemical pest control slowly
accumulate fatal amount of chemicals within their bloodstream. It can be
avoided by using natural pest control.
§ Do not purchase Birds illegally: Stop purchasing birds
from the market and protest against them.
§ Reduce Carbon Footprint: Global warming increases the
temperature as a result pests such as ticks and mites can lead to weakened bird
population because of rise in the parasite in the wild. We can
reduce it by controlling the greenhouse gas emission.
§ Join Conservation Groups: Join conservation groups to
protect our ecosystems.
§ Place Trash in appropriate Bin: Birds tend to be curious
about garbage and it causes diseases and infections.
§ Learn and Obey the Wildlife Law: Follow the Wildlife Law
in your region (Wildlife Protection Act.1972 in India)
§ Slow Down the Cars on the Bird sight: If folks of birds
are sighted, slow down your cars if possible in those regions.
§ Avoid Plastic Products: Foods left in plastics leads to
digestion complication to the birds and even death, when they try to consume
it.
§ Share your Interests: Share your love or interest about
birds which can encourage others to be aware about them.
§ Do not attempt to handle the Fledglings: Fledgling means
young birds that has just fledged. By handling these birds, they can be
affected by bacteria which is introduced by human causing physical harm.
§ Plant Native Species: Some particular birds are adapted
to some indigenous plant types which also hosts other types of animals and
insects and it is very important for our ecosystems.
§ Create Small Habitats: Most birds are lost due to human
expansions. It can be restored by creating some small habitats which includes
bird feeders and baths. As a result it attracts more species and increases
their populations to restoring them.
§ Change Farming Technique: Modern farming technique is
very destructive because of the usage of harmful chemical. By opting organic
farming we can stop birds extinction.
§ Stop Destruction of Forests: Destructions of forest land
destroy both the food and the habitat of birds and other animals. To avoid it,
stop forest destruction.
§ Reduce Interaction with Birds: Birds are very sensitive
to human action. Close proximity, attempts to approach nests forces the birds
to fly away.
§ Protect Existing Habitat: Protect existing habitat by
stopping the commercial activities such as protecting the nation parks, logging
and deforestation. These can be done by proposing to the Government and the
local communities.
§ Make Donations and Volunteer at Conservation Parks:
Another way to protect the endangered species is to get involved in the
conservation projects as a volunteer and collect donations for conservations.
§ Limit Energy usage: Limiting the energy usage can reduce
harmful carbon emission which is very important to our ecosystems as well as
survival of the birds.
§ Awareness about Bird and Nature: Being active in bird
watching and nature walks ensures that there is a constant appreciation for
birds’ beauty which can be shared among people and continue to help awareness
about birds’.
